Snow in San Diego is an annual event, at least in the moutains east of the city but weather bringing sparkling clear air is unusual. This memorable photograph was taken on March 13, 2006. The storm system that layered the mountains in snow also brought exceptionally clear air to the region. The snow capped mountains serve as a fabulous backdrop to San Diego's skyline. A portion of North Island Naval Air Station on Coronado island is visible below the San Diego skyline.
